7/22/11. Marcus had the first MRI, he had since his brain injury in July of 1994. He had a little fear of it as it had traumatized his brain the last time. Even though they had given him Valium, Ativan, and Morphine before the MRI in 1994, the sounds of the MRI irritated his brain. The sounds irritated today, too.
This YouTube video is of a normal brain scan of someone else.

The following images are from Marcus’s MRI dated 7/22/11.
This MRI demonstrates the enormity of the damaged ↑ area that is highlighted in white by the IV contrast Marcus was given. (Just remember the negatives are backwards. The highlighted area is the left side of the brain.) Marcus has been diagnosed with chronic encephalamalacia.
This MRI image demonstrates the damaged area in ↑ black as IV contrast has not been added yet. It is a slice of the brain that includes the eyes. (Just remember the negatives are backwards. The dark area is the left side of the brain.)

7/22/11, this is Friday and our days are running out. Marcus is trying to go to bed early and get up at 6 AM, so he’ll be prepared to do his best regardless of what happens to him when he gets to prison. His mood is much better.
The sadness overwhelms me. He has worked so hard to get to where is and because of certain men who have no conscience even when they know they were wrong, he will pay with his time and his life. I shall be praying as hard as I can that God will handle this situation with Marcus and with them. I ask everyone else to say a prayer with us.
Today at 8:30 AM, Marcus has an MRI. It’s the first he’s had since his brain injury. He’s always been so fearful of the noise and the pain the MRI caused his head. He did pretty well the MRI Techs told me. They came out into the lobby to talk to me with Marcus. They wanted to know what had happened to his brain. I told them he had herpetic encephalitis and a small stroke. Everyone is usually amazed when they see his brain and the damage at how well he is functioning. He should have never survived. Marcus said they were very concerned during the MRI.
Marcus is my miracle and always will be. He has overcome more than any us can even comprehend including myself.
